1938 • Pool Opens
First public pool in La Crosse, built on ancestral Ho-Chunk land & dedicated to veterans.
1938-2015 • Community Resource
Veterans Memorial Pool (aka Municipal Pool), serves the La Crosse community for decades as a tradition of fun, learning and activity.
2016 • Pool Closed
City of La Crosse closes pool. Future of the pool uncertain given the high cost of repair or replacement.
2016-Present • Campaign & Community Responds
Community members and city leaders rally to save the pool and convert it into a modern aquatic center.
2018-Present • Fundraising
We need to raise $500,000 to fulfill the La Crosse Neighborhoods Assoc. vision.
2019 • Pool Opening
The new aquatic center is scheduled to open in June of 2019.
What The New Pool Vision Offers Us…
A new heating system will keep the pool water at a comfortable temperature for classes, playing and swimming.
8 Swimming lanes
The only outdoor pool in the city with regulation swimming lanes—great for competitions, training and exercising.
Designed for aquatic instruction
A facility ideal for a variety of recreational and educational classes serving people of all ages and abilities.
Large deck and grass area with shaded zones
A large outdoor space for relaxing, gathering and building community. Shaded areas are provided for protection from the sun.
A completely renovated bathhouse with modern facilities combined with one of a kind, historic features.
Deep water diving, play and fitness area
Designated deep area with diving board and drop slide as well as for water aerobics or other aquatic activities.
