It is with great joy that our all-volunteer-led campaign, having met our fundraising goal, will be issuing a check for $500,000 to our partner in the renovation of Veterans Memorial Pool – The City of La Crosse tonight at the Grand Opening Celebration at 5:30pm, 1901 Campbell Rd.

We want to thank the City, City Council, Engineering Department, and Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department for their hard work.  Our check covers the community funds we pledged last Fall, on behalf of the over 550 donors as well as supporters and volunteers of the Veterans Memorial Pool Campaign.

We know there is more that needs to be done.  With the $500,000 challenge met, we will continue to work thru the end of this year on pending requests and with people who still want to contribute to this unique legacy project or appear on the Community Wall of Support.

Our work continues on these 3 things:

  1. Remaining equipment – the Veterans Memorial Pool still needs over $100K in shade structures, loungers, and other items before next season.
  2. Aquatic program improvements – we invite the community to collaborate with us and the City on elevating the aquatic program offerings such as more pool hours, water fitness classes, swim lessons, and log rolling, as well as bringing back recreational youth and adult masters swimming.
  3. Veterans Memorial Plaza, Community Wall of Support, & public art installations – we can’t wait to reveal the Veterans Memorial Plaza & features throughout the facility, Community Wall of Support, and special works by local artists, so everyone needs to come back around Memorial Day next year!

Extended Season & Hours:

Reminder that Veterans Memorial Pool will remain open daily from 2-8pm thru August 29th!  Stay tuned by following on Facebook or calling the VMP hotline at 608-791-8919.  Be reminded that all Veterans and their immediate family always swim for free at VMP.

Donations and Gifts Accepted Through End of 2019:

The campaign appreciates the recent gifts to help us meet our matching challenge gift and meet the $500,000 goal.  All contributions can be named in honor of a Veteran or loved one and gifts over $1,000 will appear on the Community Wall of Support that will be dedicated in the Spring of 2020 for many generations to enjoy.  Donation information here:  https://memorialpool.org/donate/
